Saving a Mature Weeping Willow with Professional Tree Management
The ProArb Tree Services team were in Bolton carrying out essential tree works as part of one of our ongoing housing association contracts.
A mature weeping willow had developed multiple cracked major limbs, with around half of the canopy already dead. Following a detailed inspection, our arborists recommended carrying out a hard pollard to remove the hazardous sections while giving the tree the best possible opportunity to regenerate with healthy new growth.
Alongside the willow, we also reduced several neighbouring trees that were growing too close to the property, preventing further encroachment onto the building and clearing branches away from the satellite dish.

Rather than removing the tree completely, a carefully planned pollard allowed us to retain the main structure while addressing the immediate safety concerns.

By reducing the tree back to suitable growth points, the willow now has the opportunity to produce vigorous new shoots while significantly reducing the risk of branch failure.
